The imPROVE Breast Cancer Care initiative is the culmination of a close collaboration between the PROVE Center at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) and Clinovera, with supportive contributions from members of Harvard Business School (HBS) and the International Consortium of Health Outcomes Measurement (ICHOM).
Backed by U.S. government funding, imPROVE features a patient-facing web application with separate clinician and administrative portals, all designed through iterative feedback from key stakeholders. The initiative aims to significantly improve breast cancer care by utilizing Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) and amplifying patient voices in research and practice.
imPROVE platform is now being implemented across the Breast Oncology and Plastic Surgery Services at BWH and DFCI. It includes the following user-facing components:
The solution includes a comprehensive back-end and middleware that facilitates interaction between its components, bidirectional integration with Epic EHR, notifications and in-basket messaging for providers, patient data storage and retrieval, audit trail, error handling, and a number of other elements.
The platform and its components are designed through iterative feedback from key stakeholders.
